Dear Friend, Your point of view means everything! You've heard of the man who ʻcouldn't see the forest for the trees'. If the circumstances of life crowd in too close, you can't see well enough to make wise decisions.
That's why at the start of each day you should take a few minutes to step back, be quiet, and take a long look at life from God's high vantage point. With God's point of view in mind, you can go to work each day as the master of your circumstances.
When you see life from God's viewpoint, you're able to discern between primary and secondary matters...between best options - first, second or third? It's the difference between seeing the city from the top of a high building, as opposed to seeing the city from the middle of a busy intersection. It's amazing how petty little things disappear when you get a high enough perspective on things. Amazing too how confusing life gets when things crowd in too close...like standing in the middle of a busy intersection while the traffic swirls around you.
That's why Perspective letter is provided each Monday to guests to this website. It's here to help you get into the habit of taking time to look at life from God's eternal point of view. Begin each day by quietly reflecting on God's thoughts. Open your Bible and ponder a brief text, such as Proverbs 3:5,6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not upon your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your steps”.
Now take a moment to ask the Lord for His understanding and direction. God is interested in your life...in your business. He is ready to reveal Himself to you, if you but diligently seek Him. He wants to guide you in His perfect way and help you make wise and effective decisions.
Affectionately, Richard C. Halverson (This is a portion of Dick Halverson's first Perspective Letter, written and delivered on October 31, 1949). |
